How To Get Involved

We have many ways for you to get involved. We invite you to join in as we further our very important cause—our children!

Cultural Arts Committee

Our cultural arts committee was formed to broaden our students' awareness of a wide spectrum of artistic venues. With strong direction from faculty and staff, this committee plans and coordinates visiting artists, musicians, and dancers for the Edgewood Campus School. In the past we have enjoyed everything from folk-based musicians to Irish dancers to jump rope performers.

Fitness Committee

We are always looking for motivated, energetic parents who are willing to contribute to the fitness committee. The goal of this committee is to promote physical activities and health awareness programs that involve the children and families of Edgewood. Some planned initiatives include:

  • Family Fitness Night
  • School-wide Edgewood Campus School Olympics
  • In-classroom stretching exercises for students and teachers

Hot Lunch Volunteers

We rely on volunteers to serve our children food. We welcome your assistance as often as you are able, from once a week to once a year!

We need four parents to set up and serve food on a daily basis. The shift begins at 10:30 a.m. and is usually done by noon. Our committee chairperson coordinates the volunteer schedule and the substitute list. Please be sure to find a substitute if you are unable to work your scheduled shift.

Mentor Family

The purpose of being a mentor family is to help new families feel welcome and prepared to start school at Edgewood. Each new family is assigned a mentor family representative who will make introductions, discuss important upcoming events, explain the logistics of drop off and pick up, and provide an introduction to the Home and School Organization.

The mentor family chairperson plans and coordinates a “New Family Orientation” event, an ice cream social, and several other fun events.

Playground Duty

Calling all enthusiastic parents who would like to join in the fun during recess! Your responsibilities are to help school staff members in ensuring the safety of the playground area during recess time. This is a fun opportunity to watch your children play and interact with others. There are two shifts to choose from:

  • Morning recess 9:20–10:00 a.m.
  • Lunch recess 11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Please arrive at least five minutes prior to the start of recess, so that you can sign in at the office and be ready at the playground with your walkie-talkie and name badge. If weather is in question, please contact the office before you come to school at (608) 663.4100.

Room Parent

Room parents have the opportunity to work directly with their child’s teacher(s) in planning and coordinating special events and facilitating help as needed by the teacher. This is a wonderful way to observe your child in the classroom and show him/her that you care!

Staff Appreciation Committee

Our Staff Appreciation Committee has the opportunity to honor our teachers at holiday times, faculty meetings/in-services, and provide a general platform to say "thanks" for all of their hard work and dedication.

Throughout the year there will be many ways to get involved, including bringing in treats for the staff or helping with “survival kits” before conference days. Join us in making sure our faculty and staff know just how much we appreciate them!
